Thank you for visiting my website, with your continued support I am confident we will bring a new era to state government in Maryland.  Your support and  encouragement is very much appreciated.

It is only because of my deep affection and concern for the people of Maryland that I stand f0r election to the House of Delegate.   Announcing my official candidacy on “Maryland Day,” March 25, 2010, came with great honor.  I chose this day not only because it is Maryland’s Birthday, but also because on this day my ancestor, Lord Baltimore Calvert, landed on St. Clement’s Island to settle Maryland.

Lord Calvert came to America, like so many families, seeking freedom from a government all too intrusive among the people’s daily life.  As was the case then, and as continues today, power seeking politician that’s only solutions is more government regulations, that stiffens economic growth.  Today our government has grown too big and intrusive among us.  Government’s constant intrusion in the personal affairs of individuals, as well as a multitude of other concerns, prompted me to stand for election to the House of Delegate  

With over 25 years of public policy experience at the state and federal levels, I possess strong and seasoned qualifications for this office.  Having spent my entire life, in one form or another, I have dealt with and analyzed issues of government. From fighting the rising cost of health care, without infringing on our Constitutional rights of individuals, preserving the Chesapeake Bay while simultaneously stimulating Maryland’s economy, and ensuring Second Amendment rights, to a guarantee of fiscal responsibility and accountability among government officials and offices, and making smart transportation decisions.

Becouse of my background and experance I understand the complexities of today’s challenges.  I am the only candidate that has bold policy solutions to address the issues of the day.  As your Delegate I will  engage you in the decision making process of the General Assembly. with a renewed focus on constituent services.

Last year, Maryland faced a 6.25% tax increase, the largest tax increase  in our states history, yet we still faced a $2 billion budget shortfall.  Every year, Maryland continues to spend more than it generates in revenue, because of wasteful spending and misappropriated funds.  This failed policy of “tax and spend” is not sustainable for our state’s economic future.  With the economic challenges facing us today, the citizens of Maryland cannot afford another tax increase to balance the budget. Raising taxes during a recession only drives more residents and private industry out of the state. What we need now are Long term, innovative solutions that will ensure  a greater amount of stability for our states future. 

   As your Delegate Member, I will not support any new legislation that cannot provide a dedicated source of funding.  Furthermore, I will seek out solutions that will improve Maryland’s budget process for future generations.  Maryland people deserve to have a state government that merits your trust and confidence, a state government that is prudent with its resources.  Indebtedness is simply not an option for a prosperous state.

The people of Maryland are our greatest resource. Withan education system ranking among the best in nation, and medical centers that are internationally recognized. With todays challenges our state needs leadership that is dedicated to promoting Maryland, especially among the state’s business community and tourism industry.  According to state information we had a decrease of 2.3% in tourism revenue during fiscal 2009, as Maryland celebrated its 375^th birthday.

In today’s marketplace, states within a region compete fiercely with one another.  This said, Maryland’s focus should be on attracting people and industry back to Maryland, not driving them away with high taxes and other disincentives.  Now is the time to elect leadership, that will develop policies that promote Maryland as a highly desirable place in which to live, work, conduct business, and vacation.

When elected, my top priority lies in establishing a better business environment in Maryland, that will bring people and industry back to Maryland. I am personally committed to working with you to find proactive solutions for today’s challenges.  By working with you I am confident that we can bring a new era of transparency and accountability to state government.   I Maryland people to be proud to call Maryland  home. 

Regardless of your political affiliation, your concerns and aspirations are at the heart of my work.  I hope to earn your trust and confidence to  serve you in the House Delegate.

 INTEGRITY
Being held under any financial obligation, or other individual or organizational conflict of interest that might seek to influence the performance of official duties, represents a dire lack of integrity and will not be condoned by my administration.

 OBJECTIVITY
Personal feelings should always be left aside in carrying out public business.  This  includes making appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits.  Choices will be made based solely on merit and through constituent approval.

ACCOUNTABILTY
Transparency of a public official’s actions is essential.  Elected officials must submit themselves to whatever scrutiny is appropriate to their office.

 OPENNESS
Decisions and actions, as well as the reasons for any decisions made, will be as open and made available to the public as possible. Restricting information should only be deemed appropriate when the wider public interest clearly demands.

HONESTY
Declaration of any private interest relating to public duties, and taking the necessary  steps to resolve any conflicts of interest, in a way that protects the public interest will be held in the highest regard, in order to best serve the constituency.

LEADERSHIP
Promoting and supporting principles of leadership, by exemplifying all of the aforementioned characteristics in a professional and tasteful manner, are the true marks of a leader, and will be upheld to the highest degree of diligence and virtue.
